Linz Residency

The first education residency at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz will take place from the 15th to 21 of July. It serves as a first meeting point for seven choreographers from Austria, Poland, and Ukraine selected for Artil project. The artists are offered lectures, workshops and individual coaching from field experts. The program coveres a wide range of aspects needed for the creation of piece: from movement research to dramaturgy, to stage and light design.

Choreographed for a number of theatres and festivals pieces with her own company and with the support of Stadt Wien, Stadt Linz, Land Oberösterreich, Bundesministerium für Unterricht und Kunst, Niederösterreichische Donaufestival, Wiener Festwochen, Kammeroper Wien, dieTheater -Künstlerhaus, Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, Ballettschule der Wiener Staatsoper, Posthof Linz, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, szene bunte wähne, Jeunesse musicale, Wiener Konzerthaus, Klangforum Wien, Tanzquartier Wien, Grand Theatre Luxembourg und Philharmonie Luxemburg, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Bregenzer Festspiele, Odeon Wien, Berliner Sophiensäle. Thorsten Teubl

 (*1971) was born in Ulm and grew up in the Swabian Alb. After studying theology and music and drama at the University of Bayreuth, he studied music theater and directing  with Prof. Götz Friedrich at the University of Music and Performing Arts Hamburg. He has worked as a director and referee at various theaters. At the same time, he studied Cultural Management at the TU Dresden and at the University Federico II of Naples. As a lecturer in cultural management he was teaching  in numerous institutions. Thorsten Teubl is currently Deputy Director of the Dance Department at the Staatstheater Kassel and dramaturg for dance. He is designated as Management Director Dance at the Landestheater Linz im Austria.

Eldad Ben Sasson 

is a choreographer, dancer and teacher. After his graduation from the Bat-Dor School of Dance, Eldad Ben Sasson joined the Vertigo Dance Company, directed by Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha’al. In 1998 he joined the Batsheva Dance Company, where he danced to choreographies by Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Sharon Eyal, Paul Norton, Yoshifumi Inao, Yossi Berg and others. In 2007 he began to establish himself as an independent choreographer and freelance dancer.

He has collaborated with other choreographers such as Alexandra Waierstall, Orjan Andersson, Michael Getman, Noa Dar, Shintaro Oue, and many more. Throughout the years, Eldad Ben Sasson has been creating numerous projects and choreographic works for universities, companies, and festivals. He travels and performs around the world with his works and as a guest performer in different projects.

Aleksander Kaplun 

Born in Moscow, Russia. At the age of fifteen (soon after the collapse of the Soviet Union) moved to the United States. Native speaker in both Russian and English languages. Lived nearly ten years in Houston, Texas, studying arts with private tutors and working as an assistant set designer at Main Street Youth Theater. From 2001 worked in the area of  neurological diagnostics, as a polysomnographic technologist, first in Houston and Dallas, Texas, and of 2006 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2008 moved to Linz Austria to attend Kunst Universitat Linz(graduated 2014). During the studies had one personal exhibition, took part in many group exhibitions, curated and organized different art events and performances. Specialization in painting and graphics. Medias include film, installation, performance, illustration, sculpture and written word.

Ievgen Kopiov

Lighting designer, educator. He works in Les’ Kurbas National Centre for Theatre Arts. His work with light started from participation in course on Light Equipment & Technique of Lighting by Erik van Raalte та Desirée van Gelderen. During 2007-2010 he took part of MAPA Project (Moving Academy for Performing Arts). He developed lighting design for numerous stage creations. Since 2011 he teaches a “Lightography” workshop for directors, choreographers and scenographers.
